LARGE RUSTIC DRIFTWOOD MIRROR

A LARGE CHUNKY HAND CRAFTED DRIFTWOOD FRAMED MIRROR
This beautiful and quite unique handcrafted driftwood framed mirror is a large 102cm wide and 93cm from top to bottom in size (at longest part of wood) The mirror is framed with large, thick, chunky, rustic pieces of driftwood and also backed with a large thick flat solid piece of driftwood. The actual driftwood is collected from the Scottish shores, cleaned, dried and partly sanded in order to try to retain the natural beauty, shape and form which has been created by the power of the pounding or smoothing waves from the actual sea itself. It is then hand crafted into a unique one off functional and decorative design.
The origin of the wood is unknown which is quite fascinating, perhaps from old ships ? or from distant shores ? this piece has the original nails which of course are rusty and add to the character I believe.
This particular mirror is framed with a lovely natural rope, which is actually quite difficult to come by, it is also reclaimed from the sea, cleaned and dried, the rope is shaped around the edge of the mirror and also up the centre to create a “wave” effect.
